Geogrid – MacGrid® - Maccaferri

 Geogrid – MacGrid®

MacGrid® are deformed or\non deformed grid like polymeric material formed by intersecting ribs joined at the junctions.

The fundamental working mechanism is by friction. In the extruded grids a confining effect over the soil particles that lodge in the openings of the grid itself can be taken into account.

We have three types of Geogrids; extruded, woven and bonded.

Extruded Geogrids are flat structures in polymer (usually high density polyethylene or polypropylene) that are extruded and then pulled: this may be done in one direction (mono-oriented geogrids), or in the two main directions (bi-oriented geogrids). They are used in soil and road paving reinforcement. Bonded Geogrids are flat structures, where two or more series of strip elements made of polyester coated with polyethylene, are linked at regular intervals by means of bonding.

Woven Geogrids are flat structures in the shape of a net made of high module synthetic fibres, that may also be coated with a further protection layer, using synthetic material (usually PVC or other polymer).

MacGrid® AR

MacGrid® AR are planar geogrid structures used for the reinforcement of asphalt roads. The geogrids are made from glass fibre or polyester woven together in a grid configuration, which is then coated.

MacGrid® EG

MacGrid® EG are high modulus high density polyethylene (HDPE) grids, produced by an punched and extruded process and characterized by a tensile resistance in both longitudinal and transverse directions.

MacGrid® T

MacGrid® T is a composite for soil reinforcement, made from a woven geogrid of high tenacity polyester multifilament yarns protected by a polymeric coating.

MacGrid® WG

MacGrid® is a geogrid for soil reinforcement, made from high molecular weight, high tenacity polyester multifilament yarns. The yarns are woven together under tension in the machine direction and finished with a protective polymeric coating.
